It is proud to note that NIE to provide courses on open online platform. The popular educators globally would soon be able to tap the expertise of Singapore’s teacher training institute over the Internet. The eminent National Institute of Education (NIE) International and the business consultancy arm of the institute focus to provide beneficial courses with United States-based education provider Coursera.

The beneficial tie-up is the latest here, after the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) began putting up prosperous courses last year on the familiar massive open online course platform. The professional team from NIE hopes to launch one or two courses by the end of next year.

The courses, which would professionally cater to educators around the globe, are likely to cover topics such as management and school leadership. Moreover there are educators who interested in the teacher training institute’s courses but they come from faraway places respectively as South America. In recent times the core concept of Study in Singapore has become expedient factor in education sector.

With Coursera they started to marvel a few specific modules so that educators could tap into the content that NIE has created to train teachers. The zeal participants would have to pay a fee for the course, at the end of which they could get a certificate of accreditation from NIE International. In case if there is interest in the initial courses NIE International plans to provide more courses in science and mathematics teaching methods in future.

Meanwhile, thousands have signed up for the online courses provided by the two local universities. NUS, the first university here to partner Coursera, provided three courses to the public last year. It launched two more – one on superhero entertainment and another specialization program in public relations for digital media. A specialization program on Coursera is a series of courses bundled together.
